Infrared inspection of electrical distribution systems is one of the most popular applications for thermal imaging. On any given day, thermal imaging is used to detect evidence of a wide variety of hidden problems in facilities worldwide. The success of an infrared inspection relies not only upon proper interpretation of data, but also the proper planning and execution of the work. This presentation will focus on how to properly plan and execute an infrared inspection of a typical electrical system along with requirements for generating a standards-compliant report.
In addition to current industry practices and standards, this course will cover pre-inspection planning, safety, inspection techniques, and the tools required for diagnosing the root cause of exceptions.
This course will enable you to:
- understand key considerations when planning an infrared inspection
- identify ways to expedite inspection activities
- recognize likely safety hazards and how to address them
- implement inspection techniques for various electrical system components
- select and use appropriate technologies to confirm infrared data
This material is intended for thermographers performing infrared inspections of electrical distribution systems. Course is designed for in-house and contract thermographers as well as managers of infrared inspection programs.
